The day it all started...

So, I am starting this blog because I get pretty excited about eating healthy and feeling great but find that those that I choose to share it with do not always share my excitement.  I really want everyone to know the benefits of eating healthier and eliminating processed foods so I am choosing this method to share my excitement.

I grew up thinking that dairy was good for me and that I was doing good because my mom gave me lots of canned vegetables with dinner and milk with every meal.  I had no idea how bad both of those things were for my body.  My healthy discovery came about in kind of a random way.  I was on my lunch one day and decided to kill a little time at the nearby Barnes and Noble.  I was walking to the rest room and saw this bright green book with a nice looking lady on the cover.  She was laying down on her stomach and had an apple placed right on the small of her back.  I went to the restroom and when I came out I decided to take a look.  It turned out that the lady on the cover was also the author of the book.  Her name, Kimberly Snyder, and the book: The Beauty Detox Solution.  Kimberly is a certified nutritionist as well as a celebrity nutritionist.  I read a few pages and found her story to be quite interesting.  I left to go back to work without buying the book that day but I went the next day and read a few more pages and decided that I just had to have it.  I purchased the book and decided that I really wanted to start implementing some of the changes to my diet and life that were suggested in the book.  That pretty much somes up how I started changing my life and health.  Thank goodness for pretty ladies and neon green book covers I guess.

Don't get me wrong, I have been on and off the wagon since reading that book.  I let things like stress and long work hours get in the way of what I know is good for me.  But something that I have heard all throughout my life in many different situations is that sometimes its about progress, not perfection.  So here I am, back on the wagon with a vengeance!  I finally purchased the blender of my dreams and have been a raw-eating, smoothie making, soup making, veggie wrap eating fool!  So I have decided to blog about all sorts of things that involve my new raw eating adventures.  I will call them my RAWesome Adventures because... well because its sounds cool.  Ha!  I also plan to blog whenever I decide to eat something that is not good for me.  I usually feel gross afterwards anyway but why not blog about it so that I can hold myself even more accountable for my epic fails.  I hope you enjoy reading about my random discoveries and like learning with me along the way.

Disclaimer:  I don't really think this is necessary but just know that I am not a nutritionist or a dietitian.  I only try to implement things that I learn from reading books and researching things on the internet.  My greatest knowledge comes from my body telling me what feels right and hopefully that works for you too.
